Fashion and Creativity - Summer School | 9-15, June 2015 | Rimini (Bologna)


The Department of Life Quality Studies (QuVi), University of Bologna promotes a Summer School in High Education dedicated to the relationship between "Fashion & Creativity".

ZONE MODA Summer School

Enrolment will start on February 2nd 2015.

The aim of the Summer School is to study Fashion with a multidisciplinary approach; the project is born thanks to the specialization of researchers of Bologna University and the academic experience of the Bachelor Degree Course in Fashion Cultures and Techniques, the Master's Degree in Fashion and the new International Master’s Degree in Fashion Culture and Management. All these courses are united under ZoneModa logo, in conjuction with International Fashion Studies.

In addition to the special lessons of national and international fashion academics, the program engages MIC's experts in Creative Thinkingspecialists of fashion archiving and protagonists who are able to share their personal experience in fashion system.

A practical workshop organized by ZoneModa will apply to all coherent theoretical lessons: by using tools and methods of offline and online research a digital timeline will be created involving students. Direct study will take place during the visit at Archivi di Ricerca Mazzini. These Archives are an excellent reality of conservation and promotion of fashion heritage as they contain over 250.000 clothes and accessories.

A scientific article by MIC on Musica Docta: "Counterpoint as a principle of creativity: extracting divergent modifiers from The Art of Fugue by Johann Sebastian Bach"

The article has been published online on  the Volume n.4 (2014) of Musica Docta, a digital journal dedicated to publishing studies in the field of pedagogy and music education.

The main message carried by this article is that counterpoint can be taken as a model approach for the introduction of contrasting elements, not only in musical composition but also in the generation of ideas in any domain of knowledge. We start by an interdisciplinary review about the power of opposite concepts as constituting elements in nature. This is followed by the description of the DIMAI model for creative thinking, which is founded upon the dual forces of convergent and divergent thinking modalities. The main body of our work is an extraction of divergent modifiers from the Contrapunctus composed by Bach and collected in the Art of Fugue, with simple examples of application to the diversified fields of education and computer science.
